A fast-growing franchise found the flexibility, professionalism, and support it needed—right from its private office in Industrious Short Hills in New Jersey.
“Hey, Rebecca! Scream Truck will be in your neighborhood this evening between 6 and 7. Reply Y (for yes!) if you’d like to reserve a stop at your house.”
That text—beloved by families across New Jersey (and soon beyond)—was crafted inside the walls of Industrious. Scream Truck, your neighborhood on-demand food trucks, has been operating out of Industrious Short Hills in Short Hills, New Jersey, for the past few years. It’s powered by Implse, software that creates efficient, predictable routes based on customer demand.
The company, which launched in 2020, gives families the ability to summon its brand-new, state-of-the-art kitchens to their driveway anytime they’re in the neighborhood. Customers simply add their address to the route, check their texts when Scream Truck is nearby, and click to pre-order.
Scream Truck also caters to private and public events. Today, their 16-truck fleet serves 150 towns across New Jersey—and has welcomed over 100,000 sign-ups.
But their model goes beyond soft serve. Next up: Neapolitan-style pizza, made to order in an 800-degree oven—on a truck. They’re also expanding nationally, franchising their ice cream concept with a signed deal in Las Vegas and several more in the pipeline—including locations in Florida.
Part of the reason for their success and growth? Support from Industrious. Having the opportunity to bring potential partners to a beautiful office makes a difference, says Black.
“It shows we are really punching above our weight, not just a small local company,” said Jason Black, president of Scream Truck.
Scream Truck began operating out of Industrious with just a couple of desks before they quickly upgraded to a private office two years ago. When choosing their space, Black says they embraced a “fishbowl” mentality—wanting to be in the heart of Industrious, where visitors would stop and ask, “What’s Scream Truck?” Their bright pink branding calls for questions to be asked. “I wanted to be front and center,” said Black. They frequently have people pop in and share stories about how they enjoy Scream Truck, and if they recently had it at a birthday party or other celebration.
“It’s the heartbeat of the space,” said Black. “It’s been a really fun way to create some more buzz, especially in the corporate community.”
They host regular team and franchise meetings out of Industrious. While their home base is in New Jersey, they also take advantage of Industrious locations in New York City. Black says Industrious’ Member Experience Managers play a big role in elevating their coworking experience. The Scream Truck team appreciates the welcoming space, high level of customer service, how organized everything is, and no issues with WiFi or other utilities.
“Where you work matters,” said Black. “Our mantra is really excellence in everything we do. We’re very honed in on the details and making sure that we present a very professional offering. Whether it’s investors, franchisees, or our team, it makes everyone feel good about coming to visit us. They leave with a positive feeling about Scream Truck because of the space that we’re in.”
As Scream Truck scales its franchise model, they’re excited to grow in markets where Industrious is already present.
“It’s extremely correlated,” said Black. “I am going to Orlando to meet a prospective franchisee. I have the ability to use Industrious on that trip. When franchisees are meeting us at those spaces, it may be an opportunity for them if they are looking for an office space.”
